How long will it take me to receive my
certification?
Although the
material can eventually be covered in a few
days, we don't recommend you rush through the
training manual. The information which you will
receive contains Loss Prevention Standards
currently being utilized nationally through out
the retail and corporate environment. If used
properly, you should cover the manual
effectively in about 1-2 weeks.
In
the past, hiring for loss prevention agents was
based on who you knew. The training for LP
agents was based on persons having either prior
security experience, or prior military or police
background. As society has evolved into a new
customer based industry, the need for LP agents
without the rough background of “them vs us”
mentality has become highly desirable.
LPAgent.com is making this obstacle a thing of
the past. For only $199, you can receive the
training which will enable you to impress
employers with the knowledge we provide you.
Employers will also reap the benefits of your
training, as you will spend less time training,
and more time working for them. That is the
ultimate Return on Investment.
Absolutely not. Security guards are typically
uniformed guards designed to serve as a
deterrent to theft, promote minimal safety, and
other aspects of security. A loss prevention
agent typically works undercover, in plain
clothes, in order to detain and arrest
shoplifters. An agent will also retain evidence,
file cases with the local District Attorneys
office, and testify in court. A loss prevention
agent is also involved employee theft
investigations, security audits, management
meetings, and sometimes oversees a crew of
uniformed security guards. As you see, the
duties of an LP agent are vastly different from
security guards duties.
I don't have any security experience; do I still
qualify for a loss prevention position?
Our
training manual will give you the knowledge and
confidence to not only get that loss prevention
position, but to apply past experiences in other
fields, into loss prevention. The most
successful Loss Prevention Professionals out
today, started with no prior LP experience. Once
you are in this field, your possibilities are
endless.
Where do loss prevention agents work, and who
hires them?
LP
agents typically are employed in the retail
environment apprehending shoplifters. There are
other industries which also employ LP agents,
such as Distribution Centers, supermarkets,
specialty stores, resorts, amusement parks,
hotel chains, restaurants, and just about any
industry which is committed to minimizing their
losses. Think the last time you where a mall
shopping. There is a huge possibility that there
were at least 2 LP agents in each of the stores
you visited. Whether is was at the music store,
or while you where looking at clothes, chance
are, the person shopping next to you, may have
been an LP agent at work. Now think of all the
job openings you may have passed up …
As
with any profession involving the security
field, there is some risk involved. 99.9% of the
companies which have a successful and reputable
loss prevention department, have a NON VIOLENCE
policy. This is discussed in detail in our
Loss Prevention Manual
Will I still need to train with whomever hires
me, or is this all the training I need?
Every retail company has their own rules and
regulations which you will need to be trained
on. Even though LPagent.com provides you with
information and tools to perform all the basic
LP detective job functions, we would be mis-leading
you into thinking this is all you need.
Typically, you will spend about 2 weeks with
your employer learning their way of working.
This topic is also discussed in our
Loss Prevention Manual.
