Choreographer
Daniel Wilkins, a graduate of School of American Ballet, founded danielandsomesuperfriends
(dass) in 2000. Before creating the troupe, Daniel performed with Donald
Byrd, Suzanne Farrell, and Complexions. Daniel broke off to form the
company driven by a curiosity to push his physical limits in an arena
that reflects the trends, styles, and technology of today.
Daniel’s choreography tackles social issues with realism and
intensity set in a forum of creative, moving multi-media dance performances.
His vision is one of comprehensive emotion and craft. Delivering
this vision are some the most athletic dancers on the New York stage
today, authentic, generous, and physically gifted.
Daniel’s first work Zoom Floral Running Space premiered at
The Theater for the New City in 1996. In 2000, the company incorporated
as a 501(c)(3) organization. Haunted House was previewed at Joyce
Soho,2000 and premiered at Diane von Furstenberg (DvF)-The Theater,2001.
Love Forever Now premiered in 2001 and forward in 2002, at DvF-The
Theater and most recently Religilistic, 2004 at Edmonds Center for
the Arts,
The Bagley Wright Theatre, Seattle Center, and DvF-The Theater.
